SIMSOC: – The Simulated Society Experience

Day 3. Health and Human Services 

Educates participants on the impact of healthcare programs and reforms in the delivery of healthcare services; highlights the scope of healthcare and social services the Greater Hollywood area offers and draws attention to the ongoing and future challenges.

Day 4. Public Safety 

Provides an opportunity to meet and interact with Hollywood’s First Responders (fire, police and beach patrol members), allows participants to get an up-close look at the tools, policies and procedures these entities employ in protecting our citizens, business owners and visitors.

Day 5. Education, Arts and Culture

Educates participants on the opportunities and challenges facing education programs and services in the Hollywood community. Discussion of Arts and Cultural activities will expose the group to a sampling of some of the distinct cultural, arts and recreational assets available in Hollywood/Broward County. Encourage participation in all experiences by promoting creative living, appreciation of the arts, diverse ethic pride and fun in our community.

Day 6. Environmental 

Examines the evolution of our urban communities, taking in consideration how the natural environment shapes people and how people shape the environment. Explore the past, present and future of our natural and cultural heritage and provides a look at the direction of our growth patterns and how the environment affects them.

Day 7. Media and Press Relations 

Conveys to participants the critical need for community leaders to work effective with the media and press as well as for leader’s to recognize media’s challenges and opportunities in our diverse, fast changing community marketplace.

Day 8. Criminal Justice / County Government 

Offers insight into Broward County’s legal systems and introduces participants to the County’s elected officials. Provides a thorough understanding of the legal and governmental issues that affect our South Florida communities.

Day 9. City Government / Business Development 

Provides participants with a clear perspective of local government and the challenges it faces. Gather an understanding of the local economy from senior- level business and community leaders and how emerging industries are driving our local economy.

Day 10. Tourism 

Gives the participants an overall view of what Hollywood has to offer tourists visiting South Florida. Provides a behind the scene tour of our airport and seaport to better understand the importance of the tourism industry in our region. This day provides participants with insight into the commonalities and differences of the South Broward district cities and municipalities from the government level to the business level.
